The Freedom Caucus

"Venite et arguite me dicit Dominus"

Isaiah 1:18

Our Mission

The Freedom Caucus is one of the Political Union's founding societies and its foremost association of conservative members, born out of conspiracy, camaraderie and an unflinching commitment to discourse for its own sake. Although its membership is not confined to a specific tradition on the Right, the Freedom Caucus is invested in the essential value of tradition, continuity and our Western philosophical inheritance. We leave no stone unturned and no idea unchallenged.

Great things are easily destroyed, but not easily created. We are wholly dedicated to the preservation of great things and to interrogating that which makes them great. In the bloodthirstiness and embitterment of modern politics, the Freedom Caucus stands sincere in its sense of citizenship to the American political project and its loyalty to the search for Truth.

Our Members

Freedom Caucus members are thinking conservatives who understand that ideas have consequences, and are therefore willing to devote a great deal of time discussing everything from the abstract to the pragmatic. Our debates are wide-ranging, often covering the political, philosophical, cultural and theological even in just one sitting. We believe that there is a great deal to be gained from protracted cross-examination.

One could say the Freedom Caucus is defined by its contradictions. Our membership is at once populist yet scholarly; conservative yet stylistically ostentatious; and mischievously subversive yet dedicated in mission. We are an energetic group, and eagerly explore these contradictions and others at our weekly debates, tea times and in frequent appearances on the speaking docket of the Political Union.

The Freedom Caucus is an intentional community that is unapologetically, eternally, authentically itself. Our group culture and organizational structure served as the original inspiration for the creation of the Political Union's contemporary caucus system. We are the genuine article.

What makes us special? Our caucus is dedicated to developing our members as thinkers and leaders as much as possible. We are deeply and personally invested in the growth of each member, and strive to build a community that fosters real intellectual growth over years of spirited debate.
