Who we are

The Cornell Political Union is a diverse group of undergraduates passionate about politics, dedicated to freedom of speech, and committed to finding common ground by engaging in respectful discussion and debate.

Among our growing list of prominent guests are former U.S. Army Chief of Staff George Casey, Tea Party Co-Founder Michael Johns, Speaker of the New York State Assembly Carl Heastie, Former U.S. Ambassador to Yemen Gerald Feierstein, former Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, and many more.

Though these debates define our organization, the Union offers its members much more. We give members access to key university decision-makers by hosting private conversations with Cornell’s president, trustees, and deans; we help members grow professionally by connecting them to exciting leadership, engagement, and work opportunities; and we host a variety of social events throughout the school year, oftentimes in conjunction with other campus organizations.

We welcome new members of all backgrounds, walks of life, and political persuasions, and we hold recruitment twice per year, in September and February. Please reach out with any questions; we’d love to hear from you.
